This is to inform you of the effect that teacher furloughs will have on your child’s school bus pass.
This is to inform you of the effect that teacher furloughs will have on your child’s school bus pass. First, please note that all schools were instructed to suspend ANNUAL bus pass sales for the remainder of the school year. This was done to minimize any confusion regarding future bus pass prices affected by teacher furlough days. So, effective immediately, students must choose between our Quarterly Payment Plan and our One-Way Bus Coupon plan.
The new HSTA contract that includes 17 teacher furlough days will reduce the remaining number of student school days for 2009-2010. Your child will have the following choices for Quarter 2 bus transportation:
One-Way Bus Coupons
One-way bus coupons are sold in sheets of 10 at $3.50 per sheet and can be purchased at your child’s school office. Students with one-way bus coupons must remit one coupon per ride to the bus driver. Additional sheets may be purchased at any time.
Quarterly Payment Plan
The price of a Quarter 2 bus pass will be reduced by the seven (7) scheduled teacher furlough days for October, November and December as follows:

(Notices regarding 3rd Quarter and 4th Quarter bus pass prices will be issued at a later time.)
Students who already purchased a Quarter 2 bus pass will be eligible for a refund on the unused portion of the bus pass caused by teacher furloughs, or receive a credit that can be used toward the purchase of a Quarter 3 bus pass. Notices regarding your individual refund or credit amount (if applicable) will be issued in November. Quarter 2 bus passes that are withdrawn mid-quarter will be refunded based on the true number of remaining student school days in the quarter.
Students with Free annual bus passes are not affected by teacher furloughs.
Students with Paid annual bus passes will be eligible for a refund on the unused portion of the bus pass caused by Teacher Furloughs. Notices regarding your individual refund amount will be issued later in the school year.
