Welcome to Aiea High School! Home of Na Ali'i.
Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year.  I hope that your summer break was restful for you and your family The opening of school went smoothly as our freshmen and new students’ attended the annual New Student Orientation. Many parents attended the orientation and received information about Aiea High School and our programs including the graduation requirements.

I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update of Aiea High School’s current endeavors.  First of all, please know that the State’s economic situation is still impacting schools as the staff is furloughed on non-instructional days ( see calendar). Through our school improvement efforts we will continue to implement Thinking Maps and the infusion of Tribes strategies in all classes.  In addition, we continue to provide a more personalized learning experience for all freshman students through the Smaller Learning Communities.  Furthermore we are preparing for our accreditation visit which is scheduled for March of 2012. The process will involve the effort of our entire school community including students and parents. Thus, we will be soliciting your participation in a Focus Group in the near future.  The high school and the complex schools have been working together to develop a Learning Criteria that will measure the effectiveness of our schools.  We look toward improved partnerships with parents and community members through increased involvement in school activities and co-curricular activities.

Please be aware of your child(ren)’s  attendance as his/her progress and academic success is directly tied to his/her daily attendance. Please support your child to attend school regularly and on time.

The faculty and staff look forward to a great school year and appreciate the opportunity to work with you and your child(ren).    If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 483-7300.

Sincerely,

Michael Tokioka

Principal
